Gifts I have made.

My parent's are wine FREAKS! That was putting it nice, My dad makes his own wine at home. So I wanted something that he could decorate his wine cellar with. BOOM!

I rubber banded wine bottles to get a cool design. I already had black, silver, and silver sparkle spray paint. I had to do about three coats. Make sure they dry in a warm area.. It was winter and I set mine outside. It took TWICE as long to dry.

Once dry you can remove the rubber bands. You may want to do this over the sink, the paint that is on the rubber bands gets EVERY WHERE! It also sticks to laminate floors so cleaning up my mess was a little bit of a mess!

I had a wedding coming up, I wanted something that NO one else would give her. I kind of stalked my bff on facebook for some cute pics of her and her soon to be new hubby. (she had engagement pictures on her facebook) Her wedding colors were red, white, and black.

I bought the picture frame at Gordmans for about 9.99!

The stuff that actually goes in the picture frame cost a little more. I went to hobby lobby and bought scrap book paper and stickers. The letters I actually bought at dollar general (they started off white but I colored them!)

First I started out with a picture of them. Then I abbreviated Establishedthen I did two flowers that I flattened out and put a sparkley gem inside. The fourth picture is scarp book paper and has the month they where getting married, then the date and then the year and ended it with another picture of them!

Baby shower gifts I made..

Regular Diaper cake

• I started out by rolling the diapers up and wrapping them with rubber bands..
• Then place rolled up diapers into a circle shape.
• I tied them to make them a little more stable so I could move each layer
• Make each layer smaller than the first
• Decoration is up to you.
• I made a homemade tutu because my moms coworker was having a girl
• I needed a topper for it with some spizaz. so I used a little teddy bear with two bright colored flowers I had
• I also wrapped each layer with receiving blankets
• I added links wrapped around the bottom layer attaching the baby shampoo, baby wash, and baby lotion.

Diaper cake stroller

• I used a shoe box to get my bottom of the rectangle shape..
•  I had to cut the top part of the shoe box in half to make fit for the narrow edge of the shoe box
• I then rolled up the diapers just like I did for the diaper cake and rubber band them
• I then used tape and taped the diapers to the box so I could get stability
• I tied the diapers around the box to make sure there were stabile by the string and the tape
• I then used receiving blankets to make the design of a stroller
• I think filled the shoe box with random baby objects
• There was two-three baby outfits rolled up/folded inside of a dishwasher basket
• Baby socks, bibs, and burp clothes where placed inside.
• I also placed a giraffe stuffed animal with a giraffe rattle
• I used a tier diaper cake stand to make it more stable and easy to carry to my destination
• The tires fell off the bottom every time I moved it.. So that was my solution

• This diaper cake was a little more difficult than the others. I had to used a wire hanger for the handle bars. I had to have my mom help me to tie/ hold the wire to get it to do what I wanted.
• Instead of rolling the diapers and rubber banding them I left them flat and and made a circle out of them while they where flat. Which was a lot easier and less time consuming than rubber banding each diaper individually. I tied them with string to make sure they stayed round and stable.
• I did that last step three times! I needed a front wheel and two back wheels
• You can use whatever you want to decorate the bike.. For some reason I had a lot of people having girls..
• Once you have your three wheels I used the metal hanger to go through the back two wheels. Then to get the front wheel on. I crossed the two end wires into the front tire.
• You should have extra wire coming out of the front wheel that you bend up and make handle bars out of.
• Then you have your basic structure of the bike. To get the pedals I broke a plastic hanger and used the bottom straight portion. I then rolled of two diapers around the plastic hanger and rubber banded them. I did this for each side creating the pedals.
• Then I wanted to add a little color to my bike, I ended up using three different types of ribbon. I matched the back two tires, and put a different one of the front. For the pedals I used a small ribbon which I tied.
• I had bought a bottle and hair accessories from walmart. I used the bottle as a bike light and put the headband around the bottle for some more color/decoration. I then created  bow out of my other two ribbon and twist tied it to the handle bars.
• I had two hair pins left over from my hair accessories so I clipped them to the ribbon on my pedals.
• Then I covered the handle bars by taping the ribbon to the wired hanger and wrapping it all the way to the top and taping at the top. I didn't want anyone to see my tape at the top so I covered with baby socks.

Appreciation.

When your a stay at home mom for the most part, you don't take a step back and appreciate anything that your husband or baby daddy has been doing. At home or even while he is at work. My husband works really hard to support our little family, and some times I don't thank him enough for what he does. He is amazing!! He could come home from a hard day at work (second shift may I add).. and if the baby is awake and not sleeping he will take her from me so I can get some sleep or even when he wakes up in the morning so I can either do homework or go to school, while he takes care of her. He may not be around very often but when he is, he surely uses his time wisely with our daughter!

He is very understand, he knows that I can become frustrated with Pailynn's tantrums she throws daily, or her painful cries of teething pain. I have never STOPPED what I was doing and thanked him as much as I should have. Having such a supportive husband means the world to me, and the fact that I have him for my daughter to call daddy means even more! I couldn't ask for a better husband for my daughter!

Love you hunny, thank you for all you do for our little family!

So this is where my project starts.. I am going to start writing letters for him to open daily or whenever he is feeling sad, happy, or even frustrated. I know that soon I will not be there every day to help him through parenthood, I have accepted the fact that a deployment is in my near future and I am starting to prepare for it now. I want my husband to be able to read these letter, to himself or even to our daughter. I want him to know how much I appreciate him and everything he has and will always do! You don't have to only do this for if you are leaving.. You can even do it being there... Your partner will appreciate your sweet little nothings written down more than words!

Mommy-gestions

Being a new mom is hard. In fact, it is ten times harder than I could have ever imagined. People say oh, don't worry you will be able to tell what cry is which... REALLY? That is crap. It is process of elimination in this house hold. It is not always easy. She is almost nine months old now. and she is very mobile. She has been crawling for almost two weeks now and I still haven't adjusted, nor have I baby proofed the house.. Is it all that serious? How many people leave there kids unattended for that long without realizing what they are getting into? I figure as long as I have her baby gated into the room I am in.. I should be able to manage whatever I am doing while watching her... So far this has worked out pretty good. Don't get me wrong she had her bumps and bruises from slipping on the wood floors from the carpet.. (that is a hilarious thing to watch actually. She like moon crawled backwards at first! I about died laughing!!)

This part is for your soon to be mommas or mommas with children younger than pj (9months). I found out quickly the secrets to being a mom..Note: This are only some.. More to come!
1.) Tylenol vs. Motrin
Think of it this way.. Tylenol- Pain= teething.. Motrin- Fever! I always tried to get the dye free kind.. PJ seems to be hyperactive when I give her the flavored.. But with her.. any time you gave her motrin she was wired.. so don't freak out if they don't sleep right away after motrin.. Ask a pharmacist for dosing information. They usually have a great print out to tell you by your babies weight!!

2.) Chew toys- Yes I said it.. She is like a little puppy with these things. The more different the shape, the more she likes it!.. NO LIE! Pj really loved the soft teething beads. I also got her this ice cream cone rattle teething toy that I would actually freeze.. She loved it because it didn't freeze her hand but also let her get those painful gums numb with coldness =) Everyone swears on sophie the giraffe.. and my nephew even has it.. don't get me wrong.. that boy eats the crap out of the giraffes head.. but I like giraffes.. so it kind of disturbs me! lol.

3.) Soft.. I mean really soft blanket.. My child is a binkie-ohlic if there is such thing!! She has to have a soft blanket to rub between her hands while holding it against her face.. Taggies worked great for while she was in the car seat because then she was still covered with her blanket!

4.) Educational books/songs.. I read to pj daily and while shes sitting on the floor in the living room.. Don't think I don't jam some kids music just for her sweet smiles and rawk out on some new dance moves.. anything to see those teethers! .. Don't worry about how you dance, they don't care.. the funnier you dance, the more they love it!

5.) Diaper Rash Cream vs A&D ointment.
Personally I hate the diaper rash cream, the baby poops and I feel like the poop rubs into the cream and it takes a zillion wipes to get off. I feel as if A&D ointment works quickly and is easy to wipe away and reapply. You have to watch your clothes and the little one's clothes as well.. It is a wee bit greasy at times!

6.) Of course- Diapers/Wipes!
I started out using only huggies.. believe it or not.. it got really expensive! Even when I was buying bulk at Sams I still felt like I was spending so much more money on the brand name.. So the hubs had a brilliant idea to check out the sams club brand of diapers.. I got almost 100 more diapers and it was more than 5 dollars cheaper AND.. they seem to work the exact same! What a load of crap huh! I was paying for the brand name.. instead of quality!

7.) Stroller/ Carseat..

We actually started off with the travel system.. It would out great still she was about 6 months.. She couldn't fit inside her car seat the way it was supposed to be faced in the stroller.. and once she can't fit that way I found that the travel system stroller was really bulky and took up most needed trunk space.. So I switched to the umbrella stroller... But now I have this big bulky stroller sitting in the garage taking up space.. Take this advise with a grain of sand.. I never really "went out" anywhere so I didn't really use the stroller to do anything other than shopping & periodic walks which I then switched to the jogging stroller anyway. So do as you please.. You need to really look into the details of the car seat before buying. My car seat now goes to 22lbs. Granted shes 16lb I will soon need a new carseat.. Do I wouldn't waist money buying two car seats that go to 22lbs you can actually buy a convertible car seat that can take the child home from the hospital!

8.) Swing / Rocking chair
Some people swear you need a swing. My daughter HATED the swing for the most part.. When she was really little 0-4 months she LOVED being rocked thanks to her grandparents.. So really that came in handy. I tried the whole recliner thing for a little while.. but it didn't rock as good.

9.) Baby Mobile
This was the most AMAZING thing invented for babies.. I don't neglect my child.. but sometimes mommy needs a shower, and with no one home you must rely on the mobile to hopefully keep the child busy enough for you to take a five minute shower in peace.. Remember YOU DESERVE A HOT LONG SHOWER!

10.) Diaper bag
Alright so you have all kinds of goodies for this one little thing.. And you need something to put it in.. I know you registered for something girly for a diaper bag.. but also ask for a more manly one.. I had purchased my husband his own MANLY diaper bag.. It actually looks like a backpack.. I can tell hes so much more secure carry that then a hot pink zebra diaper bag.. Oh yes.. He did this for the first three months while my brother made fun of him! and all the double take stares where enough to make you try to run and hide! Poor guy.. I tortured him for just a little while..;)

11.) Mobile carriers
I bought one for 15 bucks from walmart.. used it for about 2 days and quit.. really hurt my back.. all my friends swear by the wrap.. But I wasn't down for spending about 45 bucks for one that I don't even know if I will like. The Choice is yours!

12.) Sterlizer bags
Alright. I couldn't stick with breast feeding so I had to switch to formula. Cleaning bottle in the dishwasher is easy peasy! Buy/Register Dishwasher baskets to hold bottles. Run the dishwasher done! On the other hand.. if you don't have a dishwasher.. Don't fret it is still easy! They have sterilizer bags where you can put your bottle and pieces after you hand wash them and put them in the microwave for a certain amount of time and BAM you have sterilized bottles! This is very important for a young baby.. Having a baby with thrush is HORRIBLE! They are very irritable and start not to like feeding because of the pain.. Also if you are breastfeeding with a baby that has thrush, you can get thrush on yours milk makers!

13.) My FAVORITE item of PJS.. is her ducky tub.. Every since she could sit up she has been caught splashing around in this duck tub that was GENIUS!  It also kind of helped teach herself how to balance her self since most of it is inflated (even the bottom!)

14.) Bibs
THEY ARE AMAZING!!!! From the begining when bottle feed all the way to when she is spitting up, to when she is starting to eat solids.. I still use her bibs 96% of the time! I had to keep buying new ones.. You tend to lose a lot of EVERYTHING when being a mom!



15.) Baby monitors
So I was a little spoiled.. I actually got the Summer video voice monitor. I LOVE IT! Specially now that Pailynn is moving I can see her crawl all around her crib and just take a peak on the monitor instead of having to go into the room, which she would actually wake up! Really comforted me when she was so little she couldn't roll yet so she would get stuck on her stomach and I could see why she was crying/squirming..


FYI I am not mentioning the DUH products as much like, high chair, crib, place to put clothes, changing table, bottles, breast pump, breast feeding/ feeding pillow, baby mittens (for if the baby is constantly scratching themselves), Nail clippers, & thermometer.

Bummer Thanksgiving.

Say WHAT! sick .. on Thanksgiving. Really? Yes.. It was a bummer Thanksgiving in my house. Luckily dinner at my mom's looked more gorgrous than ever and the two cutest kids in the world showed up that day!.. Yes that's right!

Yes- that is my daughter Pailynn and her cousin Dexter!<3

 

  Seeing all of my family was extremely heart warming don't get me wrong but some times you just need to sulk. I didn't feel good, I couldn't hide the fact that my throat hurt, and people might not have understood why I was only eating homemade noodles (hint: this was the only thing that didn't set my throat on fire!) So yes, at that particular moment my Thanksgiving of 2013 was RUINED! Yet, I didn't know what exactly these gorgeous eyes had in store.

 

Yes, those are actually beautiful BLUE eyes gazing into your eyes with pure enjoyment on that day... and then it CAME to me while looking into those eyes. This is one of those moments where I need to take all the bad stuff that is happening to me, and toss it aside. Yes I'm sick, but why should that change my FIRST Thanksgiving with my baby girl. IT SHOULDN'T!! So we tried new things! I tried a new attitude while she tried for the FIRST time.. Mashed potatoes, which didn't go to well with her. She hated the whole texture of it =(. I wish I could have gotten a picture of some of the few faces she had. (I didn't keep feeding her because that would be torture, specially just for a picture! Sorry, couldn't do it, poor girl was already trying to toss it back up as it was!)

So, I couldn't play with Dexter in fear of getting him sick. I enjoyed watching others see the beauty of my daughter, personality and all! All the pictures that are below happened while this mommy went black friday shopping, ON THANKSGIVING! I hated that I had to go to get the deals and that I was going SICK of all things, but a mommy will do anything their new love! Here's all the fun I missed! :(

He is the best Uncle I could ever ask for my daughter!

Stating the facts: I did NOT have anything to do with the below picture! But everyone said he looked like a "redneck" A white boy in a white shirt with jeans on that are rolled up with no socks on.. (Once he got stripped down from his Thanksgiving outfit and got his boots off)

So even though I miss all of the above fun, I did have a VERY successful black Friday shopping. I even did it all in a record time!! We got to Bloomington around 6:30ish and was in and out of walmart in about half hour (ONLY because my neighbor was already in line, I handed her what I wanted gave her cash.. she planned on staying in the line either way! The either left her in that same spot at walmart for another hour and half. Once her sister in law complained they were out in ten, what does that tell you!) So there it was 7:10ish and I am off with the hubby to the next destination.. Toys R Us. This place BARELY had a line which is why the hubby and I spent a little more time in this store.. we looked all around, we did get some items off the list I made ( I forgot to mention my list contain: The store name, the time it opened and what exactly I needed from each store, YUPP I am that girl!) BUT what can you do, they were a GREAT deal! About 7:40ish we are off to our last destination Target. My worst nightmare could have happened! The line was outside the store.. wrapped around the store another TWO WHOLE BLOCKS!! Luckily I listened to the hubby and stood out in line for the next freezing 20 minutes waiting for the store to open. Luckily I brought my inhaler (medicine ONLY used for my cold), gloves, a winter coat, and a scarf that I had wrapped around my neck and used to also cover my mouth so I was breathing in warm air on my sore throat! The line starts moving as my adrenaline starts pumping.. but we only moved a block.. Still hesitating on if I really wanted to battle this store or give up and go home, but my daughters eyes on Christmas kept the fire in my blazing with even more adrenaline. If anybody could get in this store and out in thirty minutes it was the hubby and I. We have perfected this in the two years we have been together! (we never split up, I don't send anyone to the line while I am getting stuff) Finally we are in.. The way I wanted to go was blocked.. I was kind of mad that I couldn't go directly to where I wanted, but I realized they were trying to stop a herd of people from running a muck!  BAM I found the first item I needed, children books..I was having trouble finding the toys I wanted, they weren't in the toys section, so I had to look around and find an employee (takes a lil bit longer than usual bc of the day!) I ended up not even getting the toys after I saw what they were and how they almost resembled the ones she already had.. However my husband spotted the toy I was telling him about (Thankfully he actually listened at that moment!) It was cheaper than any other place we looked online or in other stores. Then when walking to the cash register and trying to find the line, I found a bunch of kids movies (nick jr movies) that my daughter loves to dance/some what watch for $4!! I think we ended up getting five or six movies! When I asked where the line for checking out the lady rudely pointed to the guy who said the line starts here. Waiting there for almost five minutes without him saying anything I heard him tell someone else to loop around this isle.. So.. I followed. and Woot WOOT! Out the door of the store where I have seen a line throughout the WHOLE store before, success!! The hubby and I quickly ran home to find our lil baby girl still awake on Grandpa's lap.. Welp! So much for an early night (sleeping that is!)

Questions..ANSWERS?

Some times I question every little single thing I do each day. I wonder if it is the right thing for my child, for my family, for me. Lately a lot has me flustered. Each decision in my life seems to have consequences on some one else, no matter what I do. Yes, I understand that this is a part of life.. But these questions I have..

Am I a good mom?

Am I a good mom?

• Am I teaching my daughter everything she needs to know? 

Yes I get it, she is not even a year old. But, that is beyond the point...

• Am I showing her enough love?
• Am I showing her how to love others for who they are?
• or am I showing her that at times, you may not love someone as much at that moment in time, but that you still do? 
• What happens when I make a mistake in front of her?
• How do you teach someone to be who you want them to be without pushing boundaries?
• Who am I to say what or who my daughter does or says. If I do those same things myself.
• How can I tell her something and do another?

All these questions keep rolling through my brain. This is when I realized that asking myself all these questions weren't just the problem.. But the answer to my problem. I need to teach my child to follow in my footsteps. So what better day to make a change then this one. A one where she won't remember just "who" I am or used to be. One where I can choose who I want to be. I'm 24 I'm still learning and experiencing who I am as a person. Well, my has one long drown out bump roller coaster of learning to do. I'm just the mom to do it.

Day by day play of how I balance out this crazy roller coaster ride called being a mom, a soldier, a student, a coworker, and employee on the daily.

What makes me... ME

Hello ya*ll...

 

Some of you may or may not know who I am. So I will start off by telling a little bit about myself. I am a 24 year old Mom, to the most amazing little girl in the world, Pailynn. She is my world. I am also married to a man that I am lucky to call my husband for over 3 years. Some people don't understand our relationship or even care to try, or even think that we should be together, lets face the facts.. there's no turning around now.. I am knee deep in craziness for the guy, there is not a better father for Pailynn.

 

Look at those gorgeous eyes and beautiful chubby checks that you can't help but want to pinch or kiss. Yupp she is my mine and all mine. I will NEVER stop claiming her as a daughter. Mommy loves you baby girl!

 There my friends is my amazing husband.. Some times I don't always let him know how amazing he is.. I am guilty of that but I do love this man to the moon and back!

Now that you have a little view of what my two main priorities are for.. lets's talk about the others..I am mostly a stay at home mom. I have been lucky enough to be able to do that specially after I lost my job because of preterm labor and not qualifying for FMLA. I do however love to work! It fills a little void inside me letting me know that I am some what of a purpose in life.. I am a medic in the military army national gaurd, I also work PRN at an Adult Day Services Center.. I also work as a personal assistant to one amazing and supportive lady named Christy. In fact she is the reason I actually started this.. =) She is so motivating that I am hoping I can be half the mom she is!. Shes amazing. Simple as that! Anyway.. On top of all those duties and taking care of my hubby and baby girl.. I am also going to school full time hoping to soon reach my dreams of becoming a Nurse Manager of an ER otherwise I would settle as a PA. Either one ;)
